“The X-Files started shortly after Silence of the Lambs came out, and Chris Carter told me shortly after we began that Scully was in fact based on the character of Clarice Starling. And although this character is different, something about it feels like we’re on the same conversations, you know. It has come full circle. The relationship here is somewhat elusive. My character knows its serving a purpose, being with Hannibal and I think she feels protective over him. We learn that she is retired but he wouldn’t accept that, so now he is her only patient. They feed off each other, if you will.”

­X-Files alum Gillian Anderson will show up later in the season as Lecter’s own therapist. Mikkelsen jokingly characterizes their interaction as “very kinky, but very interesting.” He continues, “There is a strange chemistry going on there. And there is definitely something that has happened between those two that we will know later… we’re not really dealing with it yet, but you know it’s there.”

“I think it has the potential to get viewers on a deeper level than they’re used to,” says Gillian, who helped edit the show, using on-set police advisers to make the story believable. “The writing [by Allan Cubitt] is complex and has a deep understanding of human nature. I’m intrigued by Stella. She’s not square like Scully [the FBI agent Gillian famously played in The X-Files] nor overbearing or mean-spirited. Ego doesn’t run her show.”

Starring Lea Seydoux, Gillian Anderson, Martin Compston and with a star turning performance from 12 year old Kacey Mottet Klein this is a film that shows us the real scenes behind a luxury ski resort and the people that inhabit it.

Simon (Mottet Klein) lives with his older sister (Seydoux) in a housing complex below a luxury Swiss ski resort. With his sister drifting in and out of jobs and relationships, twelve-year-old Simon takes on the responsibility of providing for the two of them. Every day, he takes the lift up to the opulent ski world above, stealing equipment from rich tourists to resell to the local kids down in the valley. He is able to keep their little family afloat with his small-time hustles and his sister is thankful for the money he brings in. But, when Simon partners with a crooked British seasonal worker, he begins to lose his boundaries, affecting his relationship with his sister and plummeting him into dangerous territory.
